About Giselle Perez

I'm Giselle, an outdoor photographer based in Cochrane, Alberta, drawn to the beauty of nature, human connection, and the quiet moments that pass too quickly. Originally from Cuba, my journey behind the lens began as a way to document the world around me - its places, people, and fleeting details - and over time evolved into a deeper mission: to create meaningful, timeless imagery that tells a story.

I believe photography is more than capturing a scene. It's about presence, emotion, and memory - about preserving moments that resonate long after they've passed. I work entirely outdoors, in natural light, using the landscape as both backdrop and collaborator. Living in Cochrane, I'm surrounded by some of Alberta's most breathtaking scenery: the foothills, the Bow River, open skies, and the Rockies just beyond the ridge. That landscape shapes everything I do. Whether I'm photographing a family in the golden hour light of the foothills, a portrait against an Alberta sky, or wildlife in its natural habitat, my goal is always the same: to create images that feel honest, intentional, and emotionally resonant.

I serve clients in Cochrane, Calgary, Airdrie, and across Rocky View County - always outside, always in the kind of light no studio can replicate.

​

I also hold the Parks Canada business license required to conduct commercial portrait sessions in Banff National Park. This means I can offer portrait, family, and nature sessions against some of the most iconic landscapes in the world: Moraine Lake, Lake Louise, the Icefields Parkway, Vermilion Lakes, and beyond. I’m proud to offer these sessions while handling the required commercial photography permissions professionally.

Recognition & Credentials​
 

In 2026, I was honoured to receive the reFocus People's Vote Award in the Black & White Wildlife Competition. My wildlife image “Stillness and Strength” was also selected as a Nominee in the same competition, while my conceptual image “Witness to Time” was recognized as a Nominee in the Conceptual category of the reFocus Color Photography Contest.

Since 2024, I have been a proud member of the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC), holding accreditations in Travel Illustration, Botanical, Pictorial/Scenic, Ornithology, Nature, Wildlife and Documentary Photography. Each accreditation has helped shape and refine my artistic voice while holding my work to the highest professional standards.

In 2025, I was honoured to have three images accepted into the PPOC National Image Salon - a juried exhibition celebrating excellence in Canadian professional photography, unveiled at the Canadian Imaging Conference in Ottawa. In 2026, I returned to the National Salon with three images, each earning a Merit - a distinction awarded to work that meets the highest standards of the jury. Being recognized at the national level two years in a row is one of the most meaningful milestones in my photographic journey.

At the provincial level, several images were accepted into the PPOC Alberta Regional Salon 2025, where I was named a finalist for Photographic Artist of the Year. Among those works, one image received both the Best in Class distinction and the Judges' Choice ribbon - a recognition that holds special significance for me.

​

In 2026, I was once again selected as a finalist for Photographic Artist of the Year and as a Best in Class - Floral finalist at the PPOC Alberta Regional Salon. To receive this recognition for a second consecutive year is both deeply meaningful and a reminder to continue creating with curiosity, intention, and heart.
